We decided this year to have a combined family birthday party in Rhode Island. We celebrated
my dad’s 80+, my daughter’s 17th, Starshines 29th, and my mom’s birthdays with great family and a coffee cake.

We were chaperoned by Starshines grandmother who, at almost 96 years old, had never been to Rhode Island.

So away we went on another “adventure”!

We arrived late at night, stopped at moms for a snack, and stumbled into our hotel room. Four of us in a 2 bedroom suite with one bathroom, but we made it work! The next morning we awoke to 17 degrees and SNOW!

Mamma was mad cause she’d just left snow in Indiana. After getting showered, dressed, and our hair done, we were off.

We started our short ride to see my parents, the long way. Instead of the left at Albuquerque, I took a right to Galilee and Starshine had time to re-exercise her creative side.

As we drove the circle from Galilee, past Sandville Cove and almost into Narragansett, we stumbled acrossed a seasonal Rhode Island icon which, by chance, had just re-opened a week ago.

Iggys Clam Shack found two new customers, although at 17 degrees, Mamma was just there for the hot chocolate. All the girls got Iggys hoodies. Mamma wont eat seafood, so we told her the clam chowder was potatoe soup and the clamcakes, TO DIE FOR, were hush puppies.
We went in search of snowy owls which had been seen just outside of Newport. We left Mamma flirting with the 70 year old volunteer at the ranger station and went on a hike through Sachuest Point Animal Refuge. We were unsuccessful with the owl, we saw her but she was too far away, but it was a fun hike with great images. I was proud to see my daughter is exploring her photographic side as well!

We went to the mill at the Gilbert Stuart Birthplace

Up the hill with the old hand laid stonewall boundry markers

I think it’s safe to say that it was a fun, fulfilling f
Visit and a good girthday was had by all!
This post was another, frustrating, accomplishment for me. Starshine bought me a tablet to make it “easier” for my bear paws to handle…it’s still a computer… There are more images but I have to figure out how to get them here. At least it’s a start!
